Anyone else wanting frisco to remove flock cameras?

I don't mind them. I always live as if the government is already watching everything I do online. I don't have anything to hide so I don't mind the cameras. If everyone follows traffic laws then they should be fine.

I always wondered do people don't want them truly because of privacy or because they don't want traffic tickets lol

@3DPrintEverythi : I'm not bothered by them - yet. I think the technology can help with crime - as long as they are used properly. Goes back to the question of "Who will watch the watchers?"

What are you doing in your car that you are so concerned about your privacy? If the cameras are used following proper guidelines and criminal acts or persons are recorded the public safety wins.

The real question here is will they be used for what they were intended for. While I and most have nothing to hide we've already seen how they have been used illegally. So the answer is- both views are right.
The real question is:
Will we ever get comfortable with those cameras being out there? I don't think so.

I love flock cameras for safety concerns. Criminals have been caught due to the cameras. If a child is lost it can aid in recovery. I don't buy the whole privacy concerns- the cameras are not in our homes.
Some of the same people who claim privacy concerns have their own cameras pointed at the streets in front of their houses and spend time on the internet with social media, chat rooms and have smart devices in their homes.

Personally, I think they can be a great tool for law enforcement. But I do think it gets sketchy for certain searches, since it doesn't require a search warrant. Should law enforcement be able to trace your every (car) move without a warrant and without independent oversight? It does seem overly invasive of privacy.

The issue is they are proven to be missused and they are lying about what they are used for.
You can tell me your only going to use your gun for hunting until its pointed a human and trigger pulled.
How many accounts of police abusing flock to stalk women, to stalk people they dont like. Not to mention many false positives of people gettting arrested and proven guilty before innocent due to AI messing up. Its all fine for us who live legally until the gov doesnt like your views and tools like this at every corner can give a profile on you better than anyone or anything. The issue is what they say they are getting and using the info for is a provable lie and they are tracking them. If they are for vehicles and license plates why are they on walking trails?
That should tell you everything.

@3DPrint: I can understand your concern of how it can be abused and missused but that is with anything. In this case I believe the pros outway the cons. @Jjj: I can see your point of being able to use the cameras without a warrant. The way I look at it, the cameras are in a public place not in a house or car. It is just another set of eyes helping searching in the streets.

They are on walking trails to protect the women and children on the trails. I love that they are there.

@funacct : I recntly read a really interesting article…I can't find it at the moment,…but it was how current laws are just not really well aligned with the modern possibility of perfect enforcement…with high tech perfect surveillance and perfect enforcement, once reasonable laws can now feel overly oppressive to citizenry and may be way harsher than lawmakers intended when they were crafted years ago. I'll have to see if I can find it…it was thought provoking from a theoretical/philosophical perspective.

There needs to be transparency on who will get to view the data and with what safeguards.
