Did you know that the Brinkman Ranch located at Preston and Main in Frisco was formerly known as the Clovis Box Ranch before selling it to Baxter Brinkman. The first few episodes of the show Dallas was filmed there as the site of "Southfork Ranch". Interesting news I read about this morning!

@Tamara: yep I did. I love driving by and seeing the cows. It will be a sad day when they end up selling the final parts of the land.

Yes and it will be so sad when that corner of land with the cattle gets built out

@Tippi: @Jjj: I've got to check out the Frisco History book for sure. So many interesting things I am learning that I really had no idea of! I sure miss seeing the cattle and horses at that ranch!

Get the book entitled "Cutter Frisco: Growing Up on the Original Southfork Ranch" - by Douglas D. Box. You'll get all the fascinating history and fun facts about the ranch before it was sold to Brinkman. It's at the Frisco library or get it on Amazon. You'll love it!
My heart breaks each time I drive past the ranch - knowing the final acreage will one day be gone. Why can't Frisco retain at least a tiny portion of its farming/ranching history?

I joke with my wife that those cows have no idea they're munching on some of the most expensive pasture grass in all of Texas... ; ) With the value of that land, I'm surprised they've held out so long.

@Tamara :
I had never heard of Southfork Ranch in Parker until this past spring when my daughter had a banquet there. It was super fancy and nice venue (food was good too)

The horses are still there. They have their private house on main just beyond the track towards Preston.

@Tippi: I agree with you so much!! We are in TEXAS not Europe or Hollywood and builders seem to be replicating other desirable places here but what about Texas for who we are and we're. The ranch kept it home!
