1. Frisco ISD Explores 2027 Bond, Invites Residents to Help Set Priorities

Frisco ISD is exploring a possible May 2027 bond election, and residents will soon have a chance to help shape the proposal.

Applications for the district's bond planning committee open Sept. 14 and close Sept. 25. Work begins in late October, bringing together community members, staff, students and representatives selected by trustees, the PTA council and the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.

The effort follows listening sessions that included residents who opposed the district's unsuccessful 2024 bond package. Officials say that feedback will help guide the next proposal. District announcement.

The district last passed a bond in 2018. Since then, aging buildings and declining enrollment have changed its facilities needs and financial planning. Bonds generally pay for long-term investments such as renovations, equipment and buses.

No dollar amount, final project list or election has been approved. The committee will recommend priorities to trustees, giving residents an early opportunity to influence what could eventually reach the ballot. Additional reporting.

A separate proposal for three retail buildings and two medical or professional office buildings on 4.4 acres also failed. Staff required revised plans addressing open space and other deficiencies. Both applicants can return with corrections. Meeting coverage.

Meanwhile, Ratcliffe 2 received a 30-day extension, with another review planned for Sept. 22. The proposal would place 89 homes on 25.6 acres near Hillcrest Road and PGA Parkway. The extension did not approve the subdivision's preliminary plat. City documents.
