Prosper Police Apprehend Suspect in Retail Theft Incident
From The Town of Prosper Police Department:
On November 19th, 2024, Prosper Police Officers were dispatched to a local retail store regarding a theft that was in progress. A keen-eyed loss prevention employee observed a subject removing security tags from merchandise and stowing it into two suitcases. The employee was able to provide officers with a description of the subject. The subject took the two suitcases full of merchandise valued at $3,757 and left the store without paying for the items. Once outside the store, officers moved in to detain the subject. The subject then tried to flee on foot. They were apprehended a short distance from the store and the stolen merchandise was recovered.
The subject, a non Prosper resident, was placed under arrest for Theft of Property >=$2,500 < $30,000. Surprisingly enough, our officers found that the subject also had an active arrest warrant for theft.
The subject ultimately was transported to the Collin County Jail, both out of breath and out of luck. Kudos to the employee for being vigilant. Our department is grateful for our amazing community members who live and work in Prosper. We could not keep the Town of Prosper a safe place without your help.
