Frisco Police Officer Involved Shooting
FRISCO, TX – On March 6, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m., Frisco Police Officers went to the 5400 block of Travis Dr. attempting to serve a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Second degree felony) for Kara Carper (W/F 6/9/1994). Officers also possessed arrest warrants for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon (Second degree felony) as well as Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor B) for Gregory Sheppard (W/M 7/18/1981).
While at the location serving the arrest warrants, Sheppard pointed a firearm at an officer. That officer drew his holstered weapon and shot Sheppard.
Officers administered life-saving measures while Frisco Fire Department Paramedics were on their way; however, Sheppard was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Carper was taken into custody for her outstanding arrest warrant at the scene and was eventually transferred to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
“When a suspect points a firearm at a police officer it is clearly a deadly force situation. The suspect’s poor choice in this incident led to a situation where our officer was forced to defend themself. Thankfully our officer’s training allowed them to respond appropriately to protect themselves.” Said Frisco Police Chief David Shilson.
In accordance with the Frisco Police Department’s employee critical incident policy, the Texas Rangers were asked to investigate the shooting.
The Texas Rangers are continuing the investigation.
