Convicted Offender Receives 70 Years in Prison
Greg Willis's Office Secures 70-Year No-Parole Sentence from Jury for Convicted Sex Offender’s Repeated Abuse of Multiple Children
Greg Willis announced that Billy Bob Dunfield, 67, of Frisco, Texas, was sentenced to 70 years in prison without the possibility of parole for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child of two separate children.
Years of Abuse Uncovered: Dunfield had ongoing access to the two children whom he would come to sexually abuse over a period of seven years, starting when one of the victims was just 5 years old. The mother of one of the victims discovered the abuse after viewing text messages that the victim had sent to a friend. The State called a third victim at trial who testified about suffering similar abuse at Dunfield’s hands.
Dunfield manipulated the victims into removing their clothing under the pretense of massages, then exploited that access to commit repeated acts of sexual abuse. Law enforcement later found a massage table and oils at his home that matched the victims’ descriptions. This physical evidence, paired with consistent testimony, laid bare the calculated, hands-on nature of his crimes.
Frisco Police Department Detective Roy Winter investigated the case. He found that Dunfield lied to the victims’ guardians, telling them that he was actually innocent of those charges so that he could gain their trust and have access to the victims. The victims were forensically interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County, where they disclosed graphic and disturbing details about the abuse.
Repeat Offender Exploited Trust: Dunfield was convicted of Possession of Sexually Explicit Visual Depictions of Minors in federal court in 2005 and sentenced to prison. Since this conviction, he has been required to register as a sex offender for life. To gain access to new victims, he lied to guardians, falsely claiming he was wrongly convicted.
Maximum Sentence: Dunfield was found guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child and sentenced him to 70 years in prison. By law, a sentence for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child is without eligibility for parole.
