Armed Suspect Surrenders After Frisco Police Standoff

Frisco Police Investigate Overnight Officer-Involved Shooting
(June 19, 2025) The Frisco Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in which an officer shot at an armed subject.
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at approximately 10:51 p.m., Frisco Police Officers responded to a welfare concern in which the reporting party advised they believed a family member was armed and going to commit suicide. The family member did not know the whereabouts of the subject.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., officers located the person, identified as 45-year-old Aaron Bylund of Frisco, in a field on the southeast corner of Preston Road and PGA Parkway and established a perimeter. Bylund is also a defendant on charges of Possession of Child Pornography stemming from a Frisco PD case. Using a drone, he was confirmed to be armed with a handgun, and officers attempted to make contact with him.
Over the course of the next hour, Bylund indicated that he wanted to commit suicide, made threats against officers, and pointed the weapon in multiple directions. As officers attempted to negotiate with him, Preston Road was shut down in both directions to protect passing motorists.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m., Bylund used a laser sight on his pistol to target an officer, at which point the officer discharged his service weapon. He was not injured, and members of the Frisco PD Crisis Negotiations Team continued to speak with him for the next several hours. At approximately 5:00 a.m., Bylund laid down the weapon and Frisco SWAT took him into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported by Frisco Fire medics to a local hospital due to being highly intoxicated.
Upon his release, Bylund was transported to the Frisco Holding Facility and charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant, which is a first degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and no other information will be released at this time.
