Guilty: Life Sentence for McKinney Repeat Offender Who Targeted a Child

The Collin County DA announced that Hugo Bellamy, 32, of McKinney has been sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child.
Bellamy committed these crimes just months after being released from prison for Aggravated Robbery.
The abuse came to light when the child courageously told her mother.
Evidence presented at trial showed Bellamy's violent history, including multiple prior prison sentences and documented gang involvement.
The jury convicted him on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and one count of Indecency with a Child by Contact. Judge Jennifer Edgeworth handed down the life sentence.
McKinney Police Detective Dane Billington led the investigation, and the child gave a detailed account of the abuse during a forensic interview at the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County.
