Found Guilty: Man Gets Life in Texas Prison After Deadly Frisco Walmart Shooting

A Louisiana man will spend the rest of his life in a Texas prison for a deadly 2023 shooting outside a Frisco Walmart.
Jhirrell Harris, 44, of Monroe, was convicted of capital murder after a three-day trial. A Collin County judge sentenced him to life without parole.
On Nov. 15, 2023, Harris tried to rob two people outside the Walmart on Preston Road.
He shot and killed 62-year-old Dung Doan, a recent immigrant from Vietnam, and wounded 22-year-old Army veteran and Walmart employee Zachary Lowe, who survived after being shot in the back.
Detectives linked Harris and his accomplice, Stephanie Gayden, to the crime using cell records, social media, forensic testing, and an anonymous tip.
Gayden, also from Monroe, faces her own charges and is out on bond with electronic monitoring.
Collin County DA Greg Willis said Harris was "a menace" and that the life sentence means "our community is safer with him in prison."
